Howard Ben Tré has earned international prominence for his glass sculptures, which are known for their large scale and classical forms. Working from styrofoam models, Ben Tré casts his works at an industrial foundry and finishes them in his Rhode Island studio. As with Mantled Figure, they often combine the mass and solidity of ancient stone monuments with the sleek forms of modernist sculpture, while the translucency of the glass illuminates them from within. Mantled Figure’s form evokes a torso and transmits a diffuse green light.
