12 – 1 pm, Contemporary Art Gallery

Part of Locally Made’s One Room.

In Assembly, gather for casual meetings of the minds and unexpected happenings curated by local artists and designers. Congregate for poetry readings, sonic performances, movement, projection, and more.

Micah Salkind curates The Re-sounding City from 7/23-7/28.
In “The Re-sounding City” six Providence DJs spin one-hour sets that speak to their experiences of life in The Creative Capital. Curators and DJs Micah Jackson will be on-site to talk and dance about the Assembly with audiences, asking them to contribute drawings and text indexing their impressions in archival leger, a document that will compliment audio recordings of the one-hour performances.Micah Salkind

7/27: Lynx Pearl Hovercraft
Lynx Pearl Hovercraft will be generating an enveloping memory-cloud through sound and vision. In this space, she will evoke her presence with and relation to the local Terran landscapes and peoples, moving from deep dreams to embodied reality and back again. Expect many worlds to rise and fall from view in the memory-cloud. — Lynx Pearl Hovercraft

Free with museum admission.

Micah Salkind is a Providence, Rhode Island-based curator, DJ and Ph.D. candidate in American Studies at Brown University interested in the impacts of Afro diasporic cultural production on local, national and transnational economies. His scholarly research on Chicago house music complements his activism on behalf of local artists and arts institutions.

Lynx Pearl Hovercraft (Terran form: CM Landry) hails from a quiet land in the Aquarian system. With her Rigelian cat, Callix, she co-operates the Vondalith, a bionic-class cruiser which holds a gentle vanity for the softness of its silver coat and a love of its solid agility. She and her companions seek out reflective and generative experiences in space, in craft, in wisdom and in play. Together they create synthetic spatiotemporal moments of introspection, bliss, and love. In her Terran form, she achieves this through auditory, visual and physical stimulation – a combination of particular virtue and allure to all her forms.
