Office Hours: Shey Rivera on Video Culture — Database Animals & Japanese Animation

10 am – 12 pm, Contemporary Art Gallery

Part of Locally Made’s One Room.

During Office Hours, artists, designers, experts, and brainiacs take the doors off of their offices and studios. Stop by for conversation or advice.

Shey Rivera will explore the cultural trauma of post-war Japan and how animation was used to reclaim national identity. A brief analysis of Hiroki Azuma’s book “Database Animals” and Takashi Murakami’s Superflat movement will shed light on how new generations are consuming data and reconfiguring narratives.Shey Rivera
