Faculty Forum: Mimi Cabell
What does working with only the information from the contents pages of art and culture magazine reveal about art’s critical history and canon? Mimi Cabell, Assistant Professor in RISD’s Department of Experimental and Foundation Studies, shares, along with her collaborator, Phoebe Stubbs, their research and findings, as part of the collaborative archive-based artistic research project Contributors Inc. Research questions include: Whose concerns and editorial decisions are reflected? How often does a single reviewer write? How often does a single artist get reviewed? What shape does this give to the magazine’s references? How does this affect art’s critical archive?
Free with Museum admission. Reservations requested.
