In connection with Creative Time’s Pledges of Allegiance project currently on view, stop by to learn about embarking on a political campaign from Kat Kerwin, currently running Providence City Council 12th Ward and Nika Lomazzo, currently running to represent District 8 of Rhode Island state legislature.

Kat Kerwin, a Providence native, is running for City Council to bring new energy to the 12th Ward. After graduating from the University of Wisconsin a year early, Kat moved home to pursue a career in public service and grassroots organizing. She is now working with the Rhode Island Coalition Against Gun Violence to bring common-sense gun reform to Rhode Island.

Nika Lomazzo is a slam poet and writer born and raised in Providence. A proud Providence resident she decided to run for office after her experiences as a Trans woman and activist made her realize that change is most effective on a legislative level.
