Join K-12 educators from different subject areas and grade levels to build cultural and linguistic competence through investigations of artworks from ancient times to the present day. In this four-day workshop, educators will develop approaches for nurturing multiple perspectives and fostering equitable learning environments with multilingual and multicultural learners. Activities and discussions focus on engaging learners from different linguistic backgrounds through the interpretation of cultural artifacts. Program runs Tuesday July 12 through Friday July 15.
Educators who teach English-language learners, work in bilingual and dual-language schools, with students in Newcomers programs who have recently arrived to the United States, and those who teach a second language to English speakers, are encouraged to attend.
The Summer Institute is led by RISD Museum educators and guest presenters, with sessions held in the Museum and at other nearby locations.
