Gorham Workbench / Chasing & Repoussé

Chasing creates decoration on the surface of a metal object by hammering it with chasing tools. Chasing moves the metal without removing any material.

Repoussé creates raised decoration on the surface of a metal object by hammering the metal out from the back or inside using chasing tools or a snarling iron. From the French verb pousser (to push up).
