In the upper left corner of the verso side of the frame is a small fragment of yellowish material, possibly an old label.To the rightof the fragment is another discoloration that was possibly once where a label was. There is also a group of illegible writings, possibly a number.In the upper center of the verso side of the frame is a rectangular discoloration thatwas possibly once a label. In the lower center of the frame is a rectangular label with beveled corners and red trim on which is written in pen"C12149 / Rhode Island School of Design". In the upper right corner of the verso stretcher are three pinkish remnants of a label.In the lower right corner of the stretcher are remnants of a label with scalloped edges. In the upper portion of the left vertical brace are the remains of a label.On the far left of the horizontal brace are two remnants of a label that has been ripped off. The label has illegible ink marks on its yellowing surface.In the lower left corner on the backing board is an old label with scalloped edges on which is typed"North Carolina Museum of Art / Raleigh, N.C. / Artist Karel Fabritius / (annotated in pencil before the actual title), "Liberation of St. Peter" with the Flight from Prison part scratched out)title St. Peter's Flight [from but scratched away] Prison / Museum of Art, Rhode Island / School of Design, Providence / access. No. / (in pencil) TL. 56. 3. 50".
