Label: In the upper left corner of the verso side of the frame is a small fragment of yellowish material, possibly an old label.To the rightof the fragment is another discoloration that was possibly once where a label was. There is also a group of illegible writings, possibly a number.In the upper center of the verso side of the frame is a rectangular discoloration thatwas possibly once a label. In the lower center of the frame is a rectangular label with beveled corners and red trim on which is written in pen"C12149 / Rhode Island School of Design". In the upper right corner of the verso stretcher are three pinkish remnants of a label.In the lower right corner of the stretcher are remnants of a label with scalloped edges. In the upper portion of the left vertical brace are the remains of a label.On the far left of the horizontal brace are two remnants of a label that has been ripped off. The label has illegible ink marks on its yellowing surface.In the lower left corner on the backing board is an old label with scalloped edges on which is typed"North Carolina Museum of Art / Raleigh, N.C. / Artist Karel Fabritius / (annotated in pencil before the actual title), "Liberation of St. Peter" with the Flight from Prison part scratched out)title St. Peter's Flight [from but scratched away] Prison / Museum of Art, Rhode Island / School of Design, Providence / access. Marks: In the upper left corner of the verso frame in pencil is the RISD accession number "38.017" underlined twice.IN the upper right corner of the verso frame in black pen is "# 13" underlined once. In the upper left corner of the backing board is an incised "5" which is circled.To the right of the five in blue pencil appears to be a "2" (on its side) which has since been scratched out in blue pencil.To the right of this is acircled bar (possibly an "i" "1" or "L" followed by a "P" (not in the circle).Below the blue pencil marks, is some kind of cursive scribble with line through it but the scribble is illegible.Below the scribble is the number "54/1" to the left of which there are two scribbles (illegible) divided by a slash. In the extreme upper left corner (above the blue markings) is an incised RISD accession number "38.017".IN the upper center of the backing board in black cursive is written "Box 5" below which is a "#" with a line underneath.In the upper center of the backing board is the number "16" enclosed in a circle.In the upper right corner of the backing board in pencil is the RISD accession number "38.017".In the right center of the backing board is a number "16" upside down and encircled.IN the bottom right corner of the backing board is a white rectangular label with rounded corners, upon which is written in black pen and encircled "31".In the left center of the backing board is the RISD accession number underlined twice in pencil. In the upper left corner of the stretcher in red paint is the RISD accession number"38.017".In the upper right corner of the stretcher in pencil are roman numerals"XIII" encircled preceeded by ink "#" which is obstructed by the bracket.In the center right of the stretcher in pencil is the RISD accession number "38.017". On the right vertical brace in the center in blue pencil is the number "(434)". On the lower right vertical brace in blue pencil is "(422)" but is scratched out with blue pencil.On the center horizontal brace in reddish orange pencil is written "256".
