Leland Baker in Conversation with NEP as curated by Renée Neely

An impromptu musical rendering within our current exhibition Nancy Elizabeth Prophet: I will not bend an inch by saxophonist Leland Baker. The musicians will explore the physical and spiritual presence of Nancy Elizabeth Prophet and its impact on their improvisational response. Baker will pay homage to Prophet as an artist ancestor in this non-verbal conversation across time that will offer space, beauty, and voice to one who was silenced. Prior to the performance, 2024 Research Resident, Renée Elizabeth Neely-TANNER, will read aloud a brief written composition.
