Double Take
About
A carved marble portrait offers insight, not only of the powerful Roman woman depicted, but also of the 18th-century practice of combining ancient pieces with other sculptural elements. Sculptor Elizabeth Lind and Anne Hunnell Chen, visiting assistant professor at Brown University's Department of History of Art and Architecture and Joukowsky Institute for Archaeology and the Ancient World, discuss the history and construction of the Portrait of Agrippina the Younger.
Double Takes invite specialists to offer views on objects with a focus on artists and the social context and artistic interpretation.
Free.
