Esther Pressoir at RISD
About
Suzanne Scanlan, author of Esther Pressoir: A Modern Woman's Painter, will share insights into Pressoir’s years as a student at the Rhode Island School of Design (1919-24). Surviving letters between Pressoir and her erstwhile suitor, Hobert (‘Hobo’) Haskins, provide details of Pressoir’s everyday life at RISD as well as her travels and interests. After completing her degree, Pressoir catapulted herself onto the modern art scenes of Provincetown and Greenwich Village. Scanlan will also highlight prints, drawings and paintings by Pressoir in the museum collection.
Free with museum admission. Registration for this in-person program is requested.
