Faculty Workshop
About
“As a student, I was taught, both implicitly and explicitly, that politics should stay outside the classroom. The political, of course, did not stay out of the classroom—it was there all along. In this complex and catastrophic present, how can we face up to the rising tides of fascism? How do we as teachers learn from the progressive struggles around us, develop our political values and principles, and integrate them into our pedagogy?”
Faculty fellow David Borgonjon facilitates a conversation on ways to bring our personal political values and our pedagogical practice closer together in an arts education setting. This workshop will include structured discussion, as well as individual reflection. Participants will be welcome but not required to share their own experiences with the group. By the end of the workshop, we will have a concise, collectively-authored “handout” with practices and reflection prompts
