Museum Concerts of Rhode Island
About
Join us for a special concert celebrating the 50th season of Museum Concerts of Rhode Island and honoring the memory of devoted RISD Museum friend Estise Metcalf Mauran. Featuring the music of Claudio Monteverdi with the Schola Cantorum of Boston (Frederick Jodry, director) and accompanied by Judson Griffin and Margaret Ziemnicka on violin, Reinmar Seidler on cello, and Nathaniel Cox on theorbo.
Monteverdi stands at the pinnacle of 17th century composers–from his pen came dramatic operas, grandiose church compositions, and nine books of Madrigals. Boston's Schola Cantorum explores works from the Madrigals of Love and War and exuberant Psalm settings from Selve Morale (1640).
Reception immediately follows. Please enter the Museum at 224 Benefit Street. Tickets: $50 per person, $20 for college students with ID.
