Jed Hancock-Brainerd, Jeremy Radtke, and Rebecca Noon will work on the set design for their upcoming show about museum security guards with Strange Attractor Theatre Co., "Enlightenment on E Floor North." They will be working on the design in the School House Long House, a space they designed for performance within the museum. As they design they will answer questions and talk about the act of creating space for original work.
Free with museum admission.
Jed Hancock-Brainerd is an actor, teacher, and theatremaker based in Providence, RI. He has performed in Egypt and California with Mugwumpin, at Perseverance Theatre in Alaska, and in his native Rhode Island, with Trinity Rep, The Gamm, The Wilbury Group, and Elemental Theatre Collective. As a teacher he has led workshops in ensemble devised theatre as a resident artist at J.M. Walsh Performing Arts High School in RI, and has taught state council-funded workshops in Lecoq based pedagogy in both RI and AK. While in graduate school he became engaged in scenic design, and has since continued his investigations of space while creating original theatre with Strange Attractor Theatre Co. As a co-founder, he has created many of their environments, including a house made out of suitcases for 2011's "If You Shoot A Boot You Might Get Wet," a war torn desert speakeasy for 2010's "F.orward O.perating B.ase," and a Victorian parlour/haunted house for 2012's "A Terrific Fire."
Rebecca Noon is a Providence-based theatre-maker and teacher who has worked with local companies, the Wilbury Group and Elemental T heatre Collective, in addition to the performances she has created and produced with her company, Strange Attractor. With Strange Attractor she created and performed 2010's "F.orward O.perating B.ase" in Juneau, AK; 2010's "Special Happy" for Perishable Theatre and The Wilbury Group; 2012's "A Terrific Fire," in both Juneau and Providence; and "Enlightenment on E Floor North," in Rhode Island, Philadelphia, Maine and Alaska. She also worked as the outside eye and producer on the 2011 Strange Attractor collaboration with Spanish company Rompecabezas, "If You Shoot a Boot You Might Get Wet." Ms. Noon has been the recipient of multiple individual artist grants from the Rhode Island State Council on the Arts, a tour planning grant from the New England Foundation on the Arts, and a crowd-funded dinner award at Providence Provision. She is also the major instigator of the Rhode Island Performance Exchange, wherein she tries daily to foster community and collaboration within Rhode Island's theatre community.
