Research for Creative Practices Part 1
About
What is research and how can it be applied in a creative practice? Research can be a daunting word. It’s used in many different contexts, which makes it confusing and difficult to define. This can be especially true when working in a creative field. Librarian Erin Perfect designed this introductory session to help writers, artists, and makers identify and access resources to support their projects and practices. Using RISD Museum resources, you will explore new approaches and different search strategies.
Part 2 is scheduled for Thursday, October 20, 5-7 pm.
Registration required. Space is limited. Free to RISD Museum RI Artist Members and general museum members. $60 for non-members (for both sessions).

Erin is an educator, writer, and renegade librarian. She was born in Pennsylvania, educated in New York City, and currently lives in Providence, Rhode Island. She has worked with institutions, individual artists, and has run independent programs and workshops. Erin believes it is paramount to seek understanding in all its forms. She is deeply interested in how dialogues and collaborations across art, science, and many other fields can inform and expand knowledge and provide new perspectives. And one of her favorite experiences is finding unexpected connections between people, places, objects, and/or circumstances. librarian.perfect@gmail.com also on Instagram at @renegade_librarian
