Teachers' Lounge - Social Practice
About
Consider topics, issues, and ideals related to teaching and learning with colleagues. Freely exchange and develop ideas in a relaxed and congenial environment. Join educators from across K-12, informal learning, and colleges and universities for aspirational conversations around topics of shared interest. Each Teachers' Lounge is facilitated by an invited guest who initiates the dialogue around relevant pedagogical issues.
Teachers' Lounge: Social Practice: teaching & learning about coexistence with the natural world
This month's guest will be Lucia Monge, a Peruvian artist with a Masters degree in Sculpture from the Rhode Island School of Design. Her work explores the way humans position themselves within the natural world and the way we relate to other living beings. She is Adjunct Professor in Visual Arts at Brown University and Critic in Experimental and Foundation Studies at RISD.
Lucia will lead this Teachers' Lounge around social practice, an art medium that deals with human interactions and social discourse. She will focus specifically on our relationships with the natural world and living beings.
