Inscribed in pen and brown ink, on titlepage, in a late sixteenth-century hand: "Emptus extitit prime [proxime?] Joannem Tartaleam Badiensem, qui me thesaurum non quaternis libris, sed infinito auro comparandum duxi; nullibi .n. reperiendum reperi, et repertum amitti videbar; eaque [?] nulli alteri inquam nisi fortasse philosophiae apprime candidato commodandum: quicumque legerit laudet, et restituat perlectum si valere volet"; and on the following page: "Poliam Frater Franciscus Columna Peramavit / Iunge numeros inventis paginis, et habebis nomen tanti Doctoris / Joannes Tartalea combinavit"
