Knotted Memories
About
In works like Merry-Go-Round (seen above), artist Seoul Kim uses etching and coloring techniques to evoke feelings of helplessness, isolation, and entanglement. The COVID-19 pandemic has brought these feelings to a head, all the while transforming our day-to-day interactions and our definitions of self-care & well-being.
Drop in to Chace Gallery, where Kim's artwork is on display, for a gallery activity that asks you to reflect on a particular piece of clothing you wore often during the pandemic. How did you feel wearing it, and how did wearing it make you feel? In moments of isolation, did your experiences shape the way you interact with the world and your own self now? Materials will be provided for you to create your item of clothing out of paper and add your reflections to a community netting installation.
