Faculty Workshop
About
Join Jane’a Johnson, curator of Past Made Present: Dutch Shadows in the Black Atlantic, to learn about the exhibition and discuss ways of utilizing its content and topics in your curriculum. In the spirit of the Afro-diasporic intellectual tradition, Past Made Present traces the long and relatively unacknowledged shadow the Dutch cast over early modern history and art history, addressing self-presentation, wealth production, portraiture, and personhood. Jane’a Johnson is Artistic Director at Foam Fotografiemuseum Amsterdam and former RISD Assistant Professor of Theory of Art + Design and research fellow at the Center for Social Equity and Inclusion (SEI).
Registration requested.
Members of the public are encouraged to register for the gallery talk with Dr. Johnson at 5:30 pm on Thursday, and students to attend the conversation for students at 1 pm on Friday.
