Artist's Studio

Through her research-based practice, multimedia artist Ariel Jackson investigates individual and collective trauma by creating fictional narratives, alter egos, and alternate dimensions that allow space for inquiry and healing. This workshop, lead by Jackson, invites participants to think through trauma, personal or collective, to then engage in discussion, writing, and collage to address the situation or create ways to cope.
This workshop intends to create a therapy-based community experience that allows participants to, individually and collectively, work through their experiences while maintaining a supportive community environment. Participation from students of color who have experienced trauma or are exploring similar themes within their studio practice are prioritized.
Refreshments and supplies are provided. If you would like to incorporate more personalized 2-D materials (i.e. family photos, clippings from favorite newspaper/magazine, fabrics etc) please bring them to the workshop. The workshop takes place in the Ewing Multicultural Center Main Lounge. Registration required.
