Professional Development Workshop
About
This workshop focuses on developing the thinking skills and habits of mind central to the Common Core State Standards. Using art and design in the RISD Museum's collection, educators will mine visual art for the literacy-based goals that are central to educators' different subject areas. Whether you are looking for an introduction as to how integrate art and design into your teaching, or you already use them as primary sources or as visual texts in your curriculum this workshop will offer an opportunity and tools to expand your students' learning and your teaching practice around English Language Arts. Participants will observe, articulate, listen and share ideas through independent and group examination of works of art and written texts, gather and organize visual and textual evidence, and will practice constructing and presenting rich and reasoned interpretations.
Cost of workshop is $30 ($20 for current students) with light refreshments included.
