About
Dr. Scott Ruby's lecture will focus on early Russian porcelain, which began in 1744 with the founding of the Imperial Porcelain Manufactory. Russia's first and leading porcelain factory had the primary objective of catering to the Imperial Court, a function that continued until the 1917 Revolution. Dr. Ruby's talk will focus on some of the great works created by this factory and briefly examine porcelains made during the Soviet period. Scott Ruby is the former associate curator of Russian and Eastern European Art at Hillwood Estate, Museum and Gardens in Washington, D.C. Dr. Ruby holds a PhD from the Courtauld Institute of Art, London.
This lecture is presented by the Pottery and Porcelain Club.
