Yeung Tong Lung 楊東龍

In this enigmatic painting, people in the foreground are silhouetted against a brightly lit orange sky. When the image is examined under the lens of a phone camera with the inversion setting turned on, a huge crowd in a park can be seen. This work represents Hong Kong artist Yeung Tong Lung’s continuous exploration of painting as a practice and a visual language. By mimicking the negative of a photograph, he questions the viewer’s perception of reality. Are things always what they seem?
