This chandelier effectively combines the work of French metalsmith Edgar Brandt and French glass studio Daum in a pivotal stylistic shift. Sinuous Art Nouveau style is gracefully wrought in foliage and swirling patterned glass, while the geometric designs of the ironwork reflect the emergence of Art Deco.

Trained in traditional forging methods, Brandt was also skilled in newer mechanized technologies. He worked as a pioneer of French decorative metalwork at the turn of the century, creating architectural elements and furniture and collaborating with Daum to produce chandeliers and lamps.
