[printed below] The market house, Providence, R. I. Built 1733. Upper story added in 1797 as a masonic hall - the first in Rhode Island. City Hall, 1832-1878. Now used by the Chamber of Commerce. Here in 1781 part of the French army was lodged on the way to Yorktown.
