This steatite scarab, one of more than 100 inscribed examples worldwide, records King Amenhotep III's famous lion hunt in eight horizontal registers of hieroglyphic writing. Similar scarab "newsletters" recorded other notable events, such as the king's wild bull hunt and the opening of an artificial lake for his queen.
