In pencil as inscription on baton: "BATON OF THE GRAND MARSHAL OF THE S.G.L. / IOOF / PRESENTED BY THE GRAND LODGE OF COLORADO" on the center of the shaft, "VISIT THE SICK / RELIEVE THE DISTRESSED / BURY THE DEAD / EDUCATE THE ORPHAN" at the top of the shaft.In pencil in margins of drawing, "For Filing" in very large letters at top of paper, "E 28711 / Baton for Baily Bank + Biddle Special one 4/5/22 / Order No 590 April 10 1922" in lower right corner, "the three links are gilt" below top of baton. In ink below center of drawing, "#41122". On backside of drawing, "4-11-22"
