Exhibition History

The Dorothy and Herbert Vogel Collection
Fifty Works for Rhode Island
Jul 20, 2012 – Dec 02, 2012

Label copy

Steve Keister uses brown corrugated plastic to create Diamond, a three-dimensional polygon suspended from the ceiling. Its overall shape seems in flux, as the interior and exterior planes are hard to distinguish from a single vantage point. Depending on the angle from which it is viewed, the sculpture’s subtle, dynamic form appears to be in varying stages of completion, giving vitality to a static object.

Label copy

Steve Keister explores color, material, planes, and volume in the construction of hard-edged, angular forms. In Diamond, brown plastic resembles corrugated cardboard. Depending on the angle from which it is viewed, the suspended geometric form appears to be in varying stages of completion, giving vitality to a static object.
