A woman gardens in the nude, oblivious to others as she focuses her energy on driving a pitchfork into the soil. This painting reflects artist Lois Dodd’s ongoing practice of depicting quiet scenes inspired by her immediate surroundings. Dodd’s bright colors and expressive brushstrokes recall French Impressionist paintings of the late 1800s and suggest the enduring inspiration of the natural world.
