Contemporary fashion designer Orlando Dugi hand-beaded the word hózhó (HOZH-oh) on this blouse. Often expressed in Diné weaving through symmetrical design, hózhó is a core concept that encompasses balance, beauty, and harmony in the physical and spiritual realms. Hózhó náhásdlįį (HOZH-oh na-HAS-dlee), which translates to “it has become beauty again,” is repeated four times at the end of Diné prayers. Dugi’s designs, including couture and ready-to-wear, reference Diné weaving practices and emphasize harmony and grace.
