Copper enamelware with vibrant floral motifs often were made in sets and offered as donations to high-ranking Buddhist monks. Imitating nielloware—silver engraved and filled with enamel, gold, and silver—less expensive alternatives like this example were produced in China for the Thai market. Its rose pink palette, known as famille rose, was used beginning in the 1720s.
