Aside from the testimony given by this work, there are the honors, awards, exhibitions and praises which have been heaped on him since he began to execute wood engraving.Born in Buffalo in 1897, Cheffetz studied with William Auerbach Levy; was awarded the Eyre Gold Medal of the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, Diploma of Honor in Poland at the International Exhibition of Wood Engravings, First Prize of Philadelphia Print Club; two Honorable Mentions at the Art Institute of Chicago; First Prize at the Los Angeles Museum, and others too numerous to list. The Museums owning his originals are almost legion in number-the Baltimore, Newark, Cleveland, New York Public Library, Pennsylvania Academy, Art Institute of Chicago, Smithsonian...
