Label: From an accompanying label from the Associated American Artists:PEKIN CAMELS/A LIMITED EDITION/Signed Original etching/By THOMAS HANDFORTH/Briefly concerning the artist-/Thomas Handforth "went vagabonding with the etching needle."He now lives in China.In 1931, he received a Guggenheim Fellowship.He was born in September 16th, 1879 in Tacoma, studied in New York and then in Paris.His works are in the permanent collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art; the Fogg Museum, Cambridge; Chicago Art Institute; Cocoran Library, Washington; the Los Angeles Museum; Honolulu Academy of Art; Bibliotheque Nationale, Paris; and many others.He has been represented in the Fine Prints of the Year, Fifty Best Prints of the Year, 100 American Etchers.He received the Emil Fuchs Prize of the Brooklyn Society of Etchers in 1927; Chas. M. Lea Prize of Philadelphia Society of American Etchers,1929; Purchase Prize for lithography of the Northwest Society of Printmakers ect..
