About
Made for the inauguration of RISD's 13th president, Lee Hall, Harold Schremmer’s chain of office is a creative and technical showpiece, utilizing numerous jewelry-making techniques. The chain’s design recalls bezel settings that typically encircle gems. Formed of hinged wings, the pendant opens to reveal a rounded rutilated-quartz stone. The pendant can also be detached from the chain to stand alone, taking on a sculptural form. As a special nod to Hall, who served as president from
1976 to 1983, Schremmer included a peacock feather to symbolize her interest in bird watching.
