This Chinese woman's informal jacket is decorated with auspicious themes for women. The many figures on the blue skirt are a reference to the "hundred children," a typical fertility motif and therefore also a sign of good luck. The jacket bears scenes of two lovers and many butterflies, a symbol of femininity and longevity. Satin stitch is used throughout the skirt and jacket to create the smooth, flat motifs.
