Rectangular white label with blue border affixed verso, bottom left with inscription in ink:[#46] [G]oncourt's/[Missing Characters] [Hok]usai 36 Fuji/[Missing Characters] [Sek]iya no Sato/[Missing characters] [Su]mida River."[notations} inscription lower left #46 indicates the number in the series (different from Lane; UTK) given in Edmond de Goncourt, Hokusai (Paris, 1896). A watercolor of galloping horses was commissioned from Hokusai by Philipp Frank von Siebold in the 1820s.
