Label copy

Buff-colored pottery with red decoration was the most common form of ceramic ware during the final stages of Predynastic period. The spirals imitate the naturally occurring whorls in the stone of a carved vessel, which would have been more costly to produce. The jar could be hung by ropes slipped throug the lug handles.
