Ancient Egyptian Galleries

This statue, made using the lost-wax technique, depicts the falcon-headed Horus, the deity most closely associated with the living king. Statues such as this one were the focus of ritual activity in Egyptian temples, where the ruler and priests interacted with the gods through divine statues. This seated figure of Horus is depicted frontally, allowing him to participate in cult rituals and receive offerings.
