While Silverman’s Common Ground pieces in this case meld materials
harvested from across the US and its territories, Tide Jar was made with
materials collected from Rhode Island, the Ocean State. Punctuated with
beach rocks, the vessel has seemingly collided with a white-capped ocean
wave, splashing a salty foam onto the jar’s deep brown ash glaze.
