Inscription: 名将九州より上洛のとき豊前国内裏の沖俎板ヶ瀬にて難風に出会ひ船頭与次兵衛を切死骸を海に投込しより以来与次兵衛灘といふ
Translation: When the Great General (Toyotomi Hideyoshi) was returning from Kyushu to Kyoto, his ship rammed into shoals off the coast of Buzen province. The sailor Yojibei (who was responsible) was put to death and thrown into the sea. Since then, the site was known as Yojibei Channel.
