Central to Tom Friedman’s work is the transformation of mundane everyday materials found in drug stores, supermarkets, or around

the house into beguiling, highly crafted works of art. In this piece, the artist employs pillow stuffing to construct a male silhouette.

The fragile and delicate quality of the material works metaphorically to convey the ephemeral nature of a shadow-like figure that seems to be stuck in limbo between standing and free fall, rising and sleeping.
