Brett Weston photographed the urban landscape of New York while working as an Army photographer. His images capture the visual incongruities brought about by the rapid expansion of New York City in the 1930s and 1940s. Competing advertising slogans seem to jostle with each other amidst the parked cars, while the Brooklyn Bridge stretches through the frame above.
