From her studio window above North Main Street, Hope Smith painted this view up the steep slope of Waterman Street. The trees and fence at the side of the First Baptist Meeting House are visible at the left, while Carr House and the Waterman Building of the Rhode Island School of Design, where the artist was a student, are shown at right.
