9/17: Matthew EverettDiscussion and demonstration of collaborative work with
poet Christopher Johnson. I provide musical backing, and so
will be bringing a guitar and small amp, an accordion, and a bouzouki (octave mandolin)—Matthew Everett
Free with museum admission.
Matthew Everett is a composer, songwriter, and writer from
Providence. Aside from solo shows and albums, Matt has
provided music for poets, dancers, and filmmakers, played in
numerous bands, and occasionally done session work with
unexpected luminaries such as Will Oldham, James Franco,
and Smokey Robinson. His poems, stories, essays and
cartoons have been published in Barrow Street, the Cafe
Irreal, Pax Americana, and the Agenda. Matt is currently
playing violin and guitar with the bands Hope Anchor and
Everett Bros. Moving Company; collaborating with poet
Christopher Johnson on the Entropy Project; and finishing
up a novel and a collection of short stories.
