Exhibition and Gallery Overview

Curator of Painting and Sculpture, Maureen O’Brien, invites faculty to explore the narratives of women represented in the European galleries, and to discuss the roles these women exercised in the art and history of their times. This session, titled, Who Are These Women?, focuses on the entrepreneur Christiana Carteaux Bannister, artist Berthe Morisot, heroine Juliette Verdier de la Coste, Queen Esther, salonnière Madame Recamier, and the model for Charles Cordier’s African Venus.
