Faculty exhibition overview
About
Join curators for an overview of the re-envisioned galleries of art and design from 1900 to now. On 9/13, Wai Yee Chiong and Elizabeth Williams introduce selections of works that harness the power of storytelling, find the poetry in daily life, and interrogate the space between the natural and the built environment. On 9/14, Kate Irvin and Dominic Molon share selections that illuminate the power structures of collecting and create new landscapes in modernist histories. Curators will share the broad themes of these newly-expanded galleries, highlight selected works, and discuss the curatorial process, which was shaped by conversation with contemporary artists Enrique Chagoya, Chitra Ganesh, Nathaniel Oliver (RISD BFA 2018 PTG), Rose B. Simpson (RISD MFA 2011 CER), Diedrick Brackens, Pia Camil (RISD Painting BFA 2003), Jagdeep Raina, Michelle Erickson, Jonathan James-Perry, Preston Singletary, Avish Khebrehzadeh, and Billie Zangewa. Academic Programs staff will offer strategies and resources for teaching.
