Mending Walls
About
RISD's Department of Teaching + Learning in Art + Design hosts a screening of the Emmy Award-winning documentary, Mending Walls.
In the summer of 2020, Richmond-based artist and activist Hamilton Glass challenged 30 artists from different cultural backgrounds to collaborate on murals to propel dialogue around social and racial justice. The documentary shows the artists getting to know each other through difficult conversations and working together opening their eyes and hearts to differences.
The screening (57 min.) will be followed by a Q&A with Mending Walls' founder and creative director, Hamilton Glass, and executive director, Taekia Glass. They will share insights into the project’s impact, the role of art in social change, and the importance of conversation in building empathy and connection.
