Reba Mitchell is a Providence, Rhode Island-based musician and voice artist. Her compositions are informed by her background in gender studies: her work is unrepentantly feminized. House Red, Mitchell's solo vocal project, explores the nature of time and stillness in response to shades of devastation and comfort. Compositionally, House Red recontextualizes individual components of traditional song structure, thereby rejecting a linear experience of time. Vocal phrases are layered together in live vocal loops and performed as unified movements to allow for experiential immersion.
