Think and Drink
About
Join Curator of Ancient Art Gina Borromeo, Conservator Ingrid Neuman and Mellon Intern Rachel Maynard as they share the results of research and scientific analysis on Roman-Egyptian panel paintings in the museum collection. Created between the first and third centuries, these paintings reveal both the continuity of Egyptian funerary traditions in the Roman province of Egypt as well as Roman penchant for naturalistic portraiture. Following the gallery talk, Josh Shields from Bottles Fine Wine will lead a tasting featuring wines from some of the many regions throughout Europe that were planted by Roman Garrisons stationed there and which are still producing wine today.
