Inscription verso, bottom right corner:8554[text and poems]Poem: Yo ni ame ni (translates to)In an evening shower otoo yuzurite (translates to) the sound of the pine at Karasaki yukaze o (translates to)in night wind yoso ni sadateru/karasaki no matsu (translates to) is hushedNormally the pine makes a sound in the wind and the phrase "wind in the pines" is an ubiquitous allusion to autumn, melancholy and poignancy. Here the great pine at Karasaki seems to stand still despite the breeze as the sound of the rain overwhelms the wind through the pine.
